Celeste is diagnosed with Turner syndrome, a condition that results in the partial or complete deletion of a X chromosome. I first interviewed Celeste two years ago and they shared that they are non-binary and prefer they/them pronouns. This upset some people in the Turner syndrome community because the majority of those with this syndrome are cisgender, and they believed Celeste’s interview was not representative of the entire Turner syndrome community. Celeste and I want others to know that the same gender diversity that exists within humanity as a whole is also present within rare syndromes.
