How to create a pattern for sheepskin mittens

In this video I show you two ways to make a pattern for sheepskin mittens. The first method uses the pattern block we created in my earlier glove making pattern series for the trank and thumb piece. I have added these videos below. The second method shows you how to draw your trank (the mitten shape) and thumb piece from scratch. How large you make your pattern may depend on the adjustment for the thickness and pile of the sheepskin you are using. For my pattern I added an extra 2cm to the trank and 1cm to the thumb piece based on my observations of how the sheepskin went around my hand. Initially, in my first mock up, the one in the picture, I did not add enough and the glove is a little too snug in the trank and long in the thumb. If in doubt go larger as you can always trim it off. If at all possible I would always advise making a mock up for your larger hand in a similar skin to test for fit. To check which one is your larger hand take the measurement around the widest part of the knuckle (compare closed and open hand) and work from that.
