9 Rarest AMC Muscle Cars Ever Made

AMC was founded in 1954 through a major merger between Nash Motors and Hudson Motor Car Company to better compete with Detroit’s Big Three automakers in a competitive market. Initially, they aimed for a more economical approach, offering family cars that people could easily see themselves owning. Later, during the horsepower wars of the 1960s, they inevitably turned to muscle cars and produced some fairly competitive race cars. AMC even built some of the best cars on the road and eventually bought Jeep in 1970 to expand into more utility vehicle production. Unfortunately, a failed merger with Renault in 1979, fluctuating financial issues, and the devastation of the oil crisis led to Chrysler acquiring AMC. Eventually, Chrysler dissolved AMC but kept the Jeep brand. AMC has been out of business for over 30 years, and their total vehicle production was never large.
