After the end of the Great Patriotic War, hundreds of former Nazi servants wanted to be freed from their shameful past, many of them, posing as veterans, did not even change their surnames. Some former policemen were even officially awarded the Gold Star of the Hero of the Soviet Union. In 2013, 91-year-old Sergei Maslov was deprived of the status of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War by a court in the Moscow region. This soldier spun a lot of things about his own "heroic" past, he even told Stalin that he taught him to ride a horse before the parade on Red Square in 1941. In the 80s, he obtained veteran status from the military commissar, achieved several medals and even a "Lada Kalina", which was presented to him by the governor of the Moscow Region Boris Gromov. Sergey Maslov at one time held the post of chairman of the district veteran organization. But local veterans caught him lying, public figures began to make inquiries about Maslov's military past. The answer came from the KGB of Belarus that Maslov was captured in 1942, served in a fascist punitive detachment in France. In 1944, he was captured by the Americans and handed over to the USSR with the condition of saving the traitor's life. Maslov served 10 years of camps in the Soviet Union, after his release he moved to the Moscow region, made the necessary acquaintances and with their help composed a veteran biography for himself. Representatives of the press, including the Rossiyskaya Gazeta, followed the process in the Pushkin Court. Maslov was defended by solid lawyers. But the judge still decided to deprive the traitor of all awards and veteran status. Alexey Kuznetsov's book "Slavic" policemen " tells about several false veterans who actively showed themselves in the punitive service of the Germans. Alexander Posevin commanded a police company for the Nazis, personally participated in the executions. After the war, he managed to become a deputy of the village Council. Posevin was respected as a veteran, and he made a mistake when he began to demand the Order of the Patriotic War. They began to understand the past of the "pretender", and the KGB exposed the traitor. Posevin was tried and shot. The Ukrainian punisher Grigory Vasyura was brought to light in the 80s, when he also began to insist on rewarding himself as a veteran. Vasyura voluntarily surrendered to the Germans, was one of the most violent militants of the Oskar Dirlewanger unit, participated in the burning and shooting of residents of the Belarusian Khatyn, in mass shootings in Babi Yar... After the war, as a policeman, he managed to serve only 3 years. Vasyura returned to his homeland, worked, including as a deputy director of the state farm. In the second half of the 80s, one of the colleagues of the punisher told the KGB about his past. The traitor was arrested, tried and shot. #to be remembered #great patriotic war #WWII #the second world war
