Some treks offer you a glimpse of beauty. Pin Bhaba Pass overwhelms you with it, every single day. It’s hard to describe this trek without sounding like we’re exaggerating. But those who’ve done it will tell you the same thing: no other trek in India changes its scenery as dramatically, as frequently, and as beautifully as this one does. It’s like doing 5 treks in 1. Each day has it’s own beginning, middle and end. You begin in enchanting pine forests, where the trail winds under a canopy of tall, green trees. The very next day, you’re walking through wide, glowing grasslands, stretching endlessly on either side. On the third day, you find yourself in the middle of a high-altitude river delta, a rare setting to witness at over 13,000 ft. And just when you think you’ve seen everything this trek has to offer, the landscape shifts again. As you cross the Pin Bhaba Pass at around 16,000 ft, the green world of Bhaba quietly disappears behind you. In front lies the cold desert of Spiti, vast, bare, and rugged. The contrast hits you hard; it’s unlike anything you’ve seen before. On the final day, you descend to Mudh, a small village tucked deep into the mountains of Spiti.
