Senior Journo Slams Govt Over Worsening Delhi AQI; Recalls PM Modi's 'Mausam' Remarks | Blueprint

Delhi is currently grappling with an unprecedented air pollution emergency, as the Air Quality Index (AQI) soared to hazardous levels across all 40 monitoring stations in the city. Experts have likened the pollution to smoking 25 cigarettes a day, warning of serious health risks for residents. The city also experienced the season’s first fog, severely affecting rail, road, and air travel in Delhi and neighboring regions. Flights, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s journey to Jordan, faced delays, and the BJP’s newly appointed national working president also had to wait for the fog to clear before boarding. To combat the worsening situation, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) activated Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Level 4 restrictions for Delhi and the National Capital Region after AQI readings crossed 500 in multiple areas. Meanwhile, opposition leaders have criticized the Central Government for its handling of the crisis, calling for urgent action to protect public health.
