New Series! Finishing the Pole Barn. Ep 1: Loft Posts, Beams, & Joists

Snow on the mountain...you know what that means? A new project! Wait what?... It all started in April of 2018 when I started building a pole barn. This style of barn is known as "monitor" or "raised center." Shortly after it was dried-in in 2021, I stopped working on it and paid my attention elsewhere on the ranch. Now that the snow has fallen here at Red Moose Ranch, perched at 3000 feet and just a few miles from the Canada-US border, finally getting back to this barn seems like the right thing to do. And I've always wanted to do something cool with the 10'x24' loft, which encompasses the back 2/3rds of the middle, raised section. It's framed, and that's about it. Like so many other building projects, let's start with the "foundation." Ride along as I beef up beams and posts and properly install joist hangers and have fun doing it! Did I say properly?
