In this week's class I'm sharing a more immersive workshop on how to write your own powerful plant spirit charms based on the frameworks of existing ancestral charms from both the Nine Herbs Charm (Nigon Wyrta Galdor) of the Lacnunga and my favorite charm from the Carmina Gadelica. Intro & My Inspo: 00:00 Class Begins at: 01:56 Charms are a powerful way to connect with the spirit of the plants and invite them more directly into our spaces of crafting herbal medicine, doing works of herbal magic, green ritual, and verdant sorcery. They're surprisingly easy and enjoyable to write once you have a base of framework to use- and they are incredibly powerful! I'll share with you just how these plant spirit charms can be used and what their many benefits are. In both ancient and modern expressions of wortcunning, the combination of spoken charms (Galdor) with the virtues of the plants (Worts), provides a holistic and magically-charged mingling of sorcerer and ally. We see in these existing charms that the plants are invoked and petitioned as conscious beings capable of taking action and supporting the work of the wortcunner. The charm acts as a catalyst to call in the plant spirit while the presence of the plant materia itself delivers the virtues of medicine and magic.
