Before Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane arrived, there was a time when the Blackhawks were very good and sold out the United Center. In the 1995-96 season, the Hawks finished second in the Central with a record of 40-28-14 (the third number is ties) for 94 points. After sweeping the Flames in the Western Conference quarterfinals, they met a budding juggernaut in the Avalanche -- in their first season after 16 seasons as the Quebec Nordiques -- in the semis. The teams split the first two games in Denver, and the Hawks took a 2-1 series lead on this fortunate shot off Krivo's stick. However, the Avs won the next three games, including Game 4 in triple overtime and Game 6 in double overtime (that was Jeremy Roenick's last game with the Hawks). The Avs then beat the Red Wings in six games before sweeping the Panthers to win the Stanley Cup.
