https://www.calibamboo.com/blog/distr... Like your favorite pair of blue jeans… distressed flooring has that perfectly worn in look and feel. But when it comes to flooring there are so many different types of distressing it can get kind of confusing… from handscraped and micro-beveled to french bleed. So we wanted to break it down for you. Distressing creates a pronounced surface texture... with nicks and grooves prominent on most areas of every plank. Hand-scraping creates a subtle overall waviness to the plank surface, with varied intensity from plank to plank. A saw mark refers to a series of perpendicular grooves running the length of the entire plank. A claw mark refers to little darkened notches found on random planks that resemble a scratch from a tiger or bear claw. Aged refers to the darkening of the nicks and grooves of a floor’s grain, with varied intensity from plank to plank. Streaks refer to dark brush-strokes randomly occurring down the length of the plank. A micro-beveled edge refers to the subtle slope just at the very edge of a plank. A pillowed edge refers to a more pronounced bevel along a plank’s edge, emphasizing its shape and size. A French bleed refers to the pronounced darkening of the bevel along a plank’s edge, which also emphasizes its shape and size.
