Channel View’s D.R.E.A.M. (Dancers Reaching Extraordinary Aspirations Musically) was started in 2015. A group of students started a petition for a dance team to match the school band and it’s been an amazing journey since then. The group consists of dancers from 6th-12th grade, led by Dance Educator, Ms. Monica Ofori. CVSR D.R.E.A.M. has performed in many shows including Six Flags Great Adventure’s DanceFest, the 2022 Pre-St. Patrick’s Day Parade, campus wide assemblies, and was the youngest competitors in the Throwback Competition at Wadleigh HS this past fall. We chose this piece because it represents who we are and many icons of music that we love. This piece has brought a tremendous amount of unity and inspiration since being lockdown during the pandemic. Being able to perform allows the students to excel academically because they are able to express themselves freely through dance without feeling judged.
