Liz Collins: Motherlode Artist Liz Collins joins curator Lynne Cooke for a conversation on Zoom. The New Social Environment #1300 Recorded on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 1 p.m. Eastern / 10 a.m. Pacific https://brooklynrail.org/event/2025/1... 〰️〰️〰️〰️ In this talk: 🚩 Liz Collins —— Liz Collins is an artist based in New York City known for pushing the boundaries of art and design in innovative and experimental work in fabric, yarn, and other materials and techniques associated with textile media. Collins frequently explores the dichotomy of structure and entropy—qualities inherent to textile that speak to the fissures present in broader architectural, political, and social structures. Collins’ work has recently been on view in the 60th Venice Biennale, Foreigners Everywhere, curated by Adriano Pedrosa, and in Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction, curated by Lynne Cooke and presented at LACMA, CA; National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, ON; and MoMA, New York, NY. 🚩 Lynne Cooke —— Lynne Cooke is a curator and writer living in New York. She has held positions at the following institutions: 1991-2008 Curator, Dia Art Foundation, New York; 2008-2012 Deputy Director and Chief Curator, Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid; 2012-2014 Andrew W Mellon Professor, Center for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts, and 2014-2025 Senior Curator, both at the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC. In 1991 she co-curated the Carnegie International; in 1996 she helmed the Sydney Biennale. Her most recent shows include Outliers and American Vanguard Art, 2018, and Woven Histories: Textiles and Modern Abstraction, 2023. Cooke has published extensively on modern and contemporary artists, including Alighiero e Boetti, James Castle, Sonia Delaunay, Zoe Leonard, Agnes Martin, and more. 〰️〰️〰️〰️ We'd like to thank the Teiger Foundation for making our daily conversations possible. • Follow @teigerfoundation / teigerfoundation • Learn more at https://teigerfoundation.org/ This conversation was produced by THE BROOKLYN RAIL: • Learn more about our upcoming conversations at: https://brooklynrail.org/events • Subscribe to the Rail: https://brooklynrail.org/subscribe • Sign up for our newsletter: https://brooklynrail.org/newsletter • Follow us on Instagram: / brooklynrail
