Plasencia Alma del Fuego Ometepe Edición Limitada is a limited edition, one-size brand. The cigar is a torpedo measuring six inches by 54. There are 20 cigars in each box, all packed in hand-blown glass tubes, and they retail for $100 cigar, or $2,000 for a box of 20. The company says the box can be used as a humidor. Like other Alma del Fuegos, the rest of the blend is entirely Nicaraguan, and is rolled at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua. Cigars with suggested retail prices of $100 or more were once unheard of in the cigar industry, but they are becoming increasingly common. Cuba has several Cohibas that sell for more than $100, and Altadis, Davidoff, Oliva and Rocky Patel are among the non-Cuban producers with cigars retailing for $100 or more. Opus X Lost City The Arturo Fuente Opus X Lost City; a phenomenal cigar, with a unique origin story. The cigars origin is intertwined with the bright lights of Hollywood. In early 2004 production of the movie The Lost City began, featuring the actor/ director Andy Garcia. The film focuses on a family attempting to navigate the pitfalls of life during the Castro revolution on the island of Cuba. The film was set to be shot in the Dominican Republic. During an early location scout, Garcia was introduced to Carlito Fuente. The two hit it off, and the Fuente family and the Chateau de la Fuente became an integral part of the production of the film. A special crop was grown for the film and that tobacco later became the tobacco for the now Iconic lost City Cigars. The cigar itself is beautiful and features what I think is the best looking cigar band in the industry. The wrapper is supple and seamless. The cigar also has the slightest box press; giving it a unique feel. The first third of the cigar opens up with rich notes of cedar and spice. As the cigar warms up a unique honey like sweetness joins the fray creating an outstanding balance right from the start. As the cigar progresses to about the halfway point it begins to get even richer in flavor. Notes of leather oak and pepper create a ton of complexity. Overall this beautiful cigar offers tons of flavor and complexity with its blend. However because the tobacco is so well aged the cigar is able to impart all that flavor while staying medium in body. This is a fantastic smoke that can be smoked by just about anyone to celebrate any occasion.
