Posting outside of the SoP Reddit Discord to be able to link to posters who haven't joined the server. I regret not flashing my job affinities on the screen for this to remember what it was now that the game is further away. The build below is an exercise of intentionally playing without Lightbringer (would not recommend due to the benefits of Lightbringer even without Knight 400%). Job Affinities Samurai 600% to trigger Parry: MP Recovery effects on the 2nd link to allow me to hold the Runic even longer. Assassin 400% to deal even greater break damage if we don't take damage. Knight 120% for the Guard Break Gauge Depletion to push that to -100%. If using Lightbringer for a break gauge, then push to Knight 400%. Dark Knight 400% for near death state at all times. Berserker 250% to refill break gauge on attack with the 50% and 120%, but also the near death Protect and Shell that further reduces damage taken and break damage received (put on weapon and/or shield with imperfect gear or a single 190% base job affinity with perfect gear). Paladin 400% to negate status ailments. With high enough item effects, this could be Status Ailment Resistance on gear. Void Knight 600%+ job affinity master points. Gear Effects: Damage Dealt: Runic to deal more damage (and thus break damage) with Void Knight's job action on the Runic's Slash. Damage Dealt: Blessing of Light to deal more damage (and thus break damage) with the Knight's job action with each guard from Runic. Ailment Build Up: Runic if available to reduce the amount of magic damage needed to build up a stronger Runic Slash. Spirit as the main contributor to break damage dealt with Runic and Blessing of Light, but also to take less magic damage and in a pinch, soul shield to recover MP. Guard Break Gauge Depletion to consume less break gauge when guarding with Runic. Stamina for tankiness in case I am hit with a physical hit and don't want to get one shot at late endgame. If looking for something more glass cannon-like, then the highest break damage dealt you can benefit from such as Non-Elemental Break Damage Dealt or Magic Break Damage Dealt. Relics primarily consisting of Alexander for balanced Stamina and Spirit contribution. For pure break damage dealt via Runic and Blessing of Light, stack Phoenix across the board. Used Phoenix as the primary blessing in case of slip up, to auto-revive one time after dealing enough damage. Ideally a sword with higher magic attack such as the rapier types. A sword with Interception (and move that to the third slot) Job Tree and Battle Settings: Slot the job action on the combo ability effect slots such as the 2nd link. Category 1 master points: Spirit, Void Knight job affinity Category 2 master points: Damage Taken at Max HP up to -100% (in case of hit and also due to extra severe diminishing returns after -100%), Category 3 master points: Parry: MP Recovery Leftover, Category 1's Stamina for defensive purposes On the sword, Interception on the 3rd item slot, then slot Interception to the 1st link to act as a buffer when slipping up. Place Runic on the combo ability effect slots such as the 2nd link Rift Monsters: Skeleton for the Stamina and Guard Break Gauge Depletion Couerl for the Spirit Malboro for the Spirit Bomb for the Stamina and the Damage Dealt to Boss which translates into break damage dealt for this build Behemoth for the stat bonus scale enhancing and Damage Dealt to Boss which ultimately translate into more break damage dealt for this build Challenges Unblockable attacks pose a great issue to this and will need to be dodged. Using a defensive mechanism such as Sentinel or Runic Protection can save the user, but Runic Protection can leave a player devoid of all MP especially on Enemy Attacks Deplete Buffs. Knight 400% with Lightbringer remains a powerful survival tool to survive at least one unblockable attack, but that would favor different effects and affinities. If you run out of MP, that can be catastrophic for this build. Dragon Trials for Enemy Stats +40 and Break Damage -30% trials will extend the fight out quite a bit.
