HO BOI… count it as a speedrunning of going to zero subscribers and over 50% dislikes. So, the Tomba! Special Edition by the WONDERFUL LimitedRunGames is out, huh? …now so is the Obligatory Review Segment of BOTH Tombi! games. Originally, I wanted to do it like with Digimon World – as in a mock old-school magazine fashion, and roleplaying as if it was made in early 2000s… but I couldn’t in a sense. I mean… part of Tombi! (and Whoopee Camp) IS that extremely large hole it left after Tombi! 2. It’s needed for context. …and also I was so demotivated by the release of Tomba! Special Edition that I didn’t care anymore. So yeah, this video is kind of cynical (if you haven’t got that feel after first ~1,5 minute and the final segment). The review was made to be as respectful as I could, though. Believe it or not, but respecting games is something sacred to me as I love this hobby. And while I make jokes during my “brief presentations”, it’s just because my love of the source material and I never want to be disrespectful to it. Also… this was a “test” run. I plan to make some more reviews in the future and wanted to test how much time I need to put out to make one, counting every normal “distraction” during my week (like groceries, working, sleep etc.). Not counting the recording footage (which I did… months ago) it took me a week for writing a script (2.3k words), recording the voiceover, editing it and putting subs, so… not bad? Not bad at all if you ask me. Still, I lost many precious hours on looking for right clips from the playthroughs, so… not making notes bites me in the AYUS again. As I’ve said… it’s just an intermission. I wanted… to enjoy this project for as long as I can. It’s going to be finished by the end of September and then… it’s over. A long way. …even though I planned it to end much earlier (and only having 2-2.5h total). By the way… I find it funny how many words I used and yet how “vague” this review is, but then again… I think it is intriguing enough? Even for an outsider? Eh, I don’t know. All I know is that I could be hired by ones like IGN seeing how I wiggle around without saying anything concrete. As for Special Eddition… eh, it’s exactly what I thought it’s going to be. And that angers me. Was it possible to bring every piece of missing content back? Nope, not really, that’s crazy talk. But… it… just feels like such a cashgrab after all these years of waiting, you know? At first it didn’t bother me too much – I ordered the special edition for PS5, I bought the digital for switch and played it to the completion.. and was okay with it. Until the hype in me cooled off. But that’s your decision. After playing Tombi! so much for this series I can say wholeheartedly that the original is better. Btw. I dedicate this video to @Vanserchan so that my guy will (maybe) finally try Tombi! series for real this time, finishing it and all (and will make a video for me to enjoy). Count yourself called out. Alternative title: “regret.” If for whatever reason this is the part you got into first… you can check the INITIAL video here: • [REGRET] - an introspective look at Tombi!... Shout outs to the @TombaClubfor poomping out a lot of content lately (including a really nice, informative one about the Masakari Jungle) / @tombaclub Obligatory shilling to the maestro - @Scrumpletgaminghis covers of Tombi! 1&2 tracks (The Pignose Project) are the best around and have brought me a bit of respite in my pointless existence lately. 0:00 - oh no (I waste your time for 1.5 minute basically) 1:35 - The whole review starts here 15:29 - Ah, my old nemesis 19:14 - …???? Now every hand is on the deck for the finale. Cheers. #tombi #tomba2 #review
