Anambas is truly amazing, as it's about 250 islands in the North-West part of Indonesia. Few people go here to discover this Indonesian paradise, we were told they have about 250-500 tourists every year, mainly sailing boats. Coming there, 8 scandinavian, was bit of a surprise for them, we even made it to the local newspaper. We did this trip before covid hit the world. It might be hard to travel Anambas and I would not recommend people without experience going here. There is very little information on internet and hard to plan. We just went and hoped for the best. We found one phone number on internet and contacted him, which was Alex, the owner of Tengilling Island. He and his friends was very welcoming and helped us around and also invited us to his island for a few days. We took a ferry over from Terempa, which was our base and the capital of Anambas, to the Island Pasir. We heard they had a quite awesome beach so we rented bikes in the village and went there. Totally empty and there was a guest house right on the beach. Apparently they hadn't had any guests for two months and we rented the whole place, dirt cheap. The beach was about 9km long and there was NOTHING on it, except a few houses along the road in the north end where we stayed. Me and a friend went on a mission to get some beer, and here we discovered that alcohol is illegal here. Beeing stubborn and have the ability to speak to people soon gave us some success. We found two old ladies willing to sell us beer in water boxes if we promised to keep quiet about it haha... Drove the bikes along the beach and the feeling of a totally empty beach with great friends is unreal. Also rented some kayaks for a trip to beaches around. Turned out that there was a hole in one of them and mayday mayday, man overboard! That poor kayak probably lay on the bottom today. When we headed back to Tarempa we met two guys who took us scuba diving on an overnight trip. We bought few hammocks from a Vietnamese guy in the local prison who was convicted for illegal fishing, coz where we was going the choice was to sleep on the beach or in an hammock. We also did some spearfishing in between the dives which was truly awesome! During one of the nights on an island we drank a little to much, swimming naked from the docks and had a great time. The next day, the shaman from the neighbour island came over and told us that we had disturbed them, and wanted us to leave. Our host had to fix this and in the end he accepted that we could stay, but if we disturb them again "we come and do whatever we want with you". This is a place where news probably dont travel so do I have to say we was a bit more quiet the next day? This trip was so amazing and I would love to do it again with my singagang, love you all!
