I love hanging massive baits underneath a tip up, and pulling up a big toothy pike. They can definitely test your patience at times, but it's worth the wait. If you haven't tried ice fishing for pike yet, you definitely need to give it a go! Anytime I'm ice fishing a lake that has tiger muskie or northern pike in it I always set a tip up out. You'd be dumb not to set a tip up out as your second rod at these kinds of lakes. Just remember that Pineview and Newton have special bait laws that you need to look up before hand if you're fishing at either of those two lakes.
