This is Day 1 of our trip to the Pantanal! In today’s vlog, we journey from the bustling city of São Paulo to the heart of Brazil’s wild wetlands: the Pantanal. After a flight to Cuiabá, we make our way to the incredible SouthWild Pantanal Lodge, our base for the next four days of wildlife exploration. Guest starring on this epic journey: Jamie, Holly, and our guide Fernando, who’ll be with us every step of the way as we uncover one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. In this first vlog, we’ll take you through what it’s like to arrive in the Pantanal, share some behind-the-scenes fun with our fully-stacked crew, and begin our adventure with a sunset riverboat safari. We also take part in the Ocelot Experience, a unique nighttime observation hide designed for wildlife photographers and enthusiasts to respectfully witness these elusive cats. It’s important to note: the ocelots seen here do not rely on these feeding stations for survival, they remain wild and free-roaming. Experiences like this support responsible ecotourism, helping conserve habitats and fund protection efforts across the Pantanal.
