Delivering a Truck to Soldiers at Izyum, Ukraine.

I was fortunate to make two deliveries of trucks from Lviv to the Eastern Front area in Ukraine. This was my first trip to Izyum, where I met 2 sergeants of the 21st Drone Brigade (Fanta and Prometheus from the Paskuda Group!), who took 3 hours to show me around. Izyum had been captured by the Russians in 2022 and then liberated by the Ukrainians, so there was a lot of damage. We were about 25-30km from the front, so while not in immediate danger, the area is still occasionally hit with drones or bombs. There were civilians, NGOs, and, of course, the Ukrainian Army, all going about their business. I met American soldiers (volunteers), the Paskuda Group commander, had lemonade, ate lunch, it was all pretty surreal. Fanta and Prometheus have both been in the Ukrainian Army since 2022, and when I asked them about hopes for ending the war, or plans afterwards, they both kind of shrugged. Fanta felt she was giving up her chance to have a family since it is impossible for women at the front. When I asked about foreign aid (specifically US aid), they just commented "With less aid, just more Ukrainians will die".
