Step inside Sky Lodge, a one-of-a-kind architectural residence built by @tetonheritagebuildersmonta3598 and designed by @centreskyarchitecture3593 nestled at Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. In this episode, Jamie Daugaard, Principal of Centre Sky Architecture and Omar Fuentes, Owner and Lead Project Manager of Teton Heritage Builders, take you through this incredible build. From the very first impression, this home was designed to immerse guests in emotion, craftsmanship, and connection to its surroundings. The team brought every detail to life: dramatic rooflines engineered for Montana’s climate, seamless indoor-outdoor living, a striking glass-enclosed wine room, and bold structural steel framing the home’s most daring features. This project reflects Centre Sky Architecture’s philosophy of site-driven design where view corridors, natural light, and landscape become integral to every decision. Through a seamless collaboration of expert builders, architects, craftsmen, and designers, the result is a home that’s as innovative as it is timeless. Key Features of This Home: Site-driven design capturing mountain peaks, forests, and natural elements Bold architecture with terraced and staggered rooflines Expansive use of steel and glass for strength, style, and sweeping views Striking glass-enclosed wine room as both art and architecture Great room with a 24-foot linear fireplace, connecting game, pool, bar, and living areas Concrete floors with in-floor heating on the lower level for warmth and modern appeal Rich materials including black basalt and charcoal stone veneers Seamless indoor-outdoor living for year-round Montana enjoyment Custom ornamental steelwork by Montana Steel Industries Collaborative craftsmanship by Teton Heritage Builders and local artisans Featured Partners: Build by @tetonheritagebuildersmonta3598 Website: https://tetonheritagebuilders.com/ Architecture by @centreskyarchitecture3593 Website: https://www.centresky.com/ Centre Sky Architecture designed Sky Lodge with careful attention to site, views, and materiality. They positioned the home to engage the Gallatin Range and surrounding lodgepole pines, designing large window and door openings framed by deep cantilevered and elongated rooflines. Alternating monoslopes supported by timber and steel, along with stone spines, create architectural rhythm and visual interest both inside and out. Inside, the architects integrated exterior materials: reclaimed timber, steel panels, charcoal stone, and multi-stained wood ceilings enhanced with soft lighting to highlight textures and create a cohesive, immersive experience. Windows by Lake Glass Website: https://lakeglass.com/ Lake Glass collaborated with Teton Heritage Builders on this project, providing exceptional quality and value through their JELD-WEN Epic Vue line of contemporary wood-clad products. Their work seamlessly complemented the sleek, modern vision of the architect and homeowner, enhancing both the aesthetic appeal and functional performance of the home. With a focus on high-quality materials, effortless installation, and long-lasting value, Lake Glass played a key role in bringing this remarkable design to life. Structural Steel by Montana Steel Website: https://www.montanasteel.us/ Montana Steel Industries provided the structural steel framing for the home, ensuring strength, stability, and precision in its construction. In addition, they crafted the miscellaneous decorative steel elements, including architectural railings and chimney caps, seamlessly integrating functional steelwork with the home’s modern aesthetic. As an AISC-certified steel fabricator, MSI brought its expertise in structural, architectural, and custom steel to deliver high-quality, enduring results that elevate both the form and function of the project. Luxury Spa and Pool Installation by @Diamondspas Website: https://www.diamondspas.com/ Diamond Spas provided and installed the home’s luxury spa and pool, delivering a high-end, seamless experience that complements the home’s design and lifestyle amenities. Exterior Envelope by @cornerstonemanagementservi7484 Website: https://cmsbigsky.com/ CMS played a critical role in the home’s roof design and installation. They modeled and tested a custom cold roof system using SolidWorks CAD software, optimizing fluid dynamics for Montana’s high-alpine environment. Working closely with THB & CSA, CMS refined the final roof design, ensuring durability, watertightness, and elite aesthetic appeal. Their contributions included designing custom trim, installing 2" x 18" steel gray rawhide standing seam panels (fabricated by CMS’s sister company, Elevated Metal Solutions), and applying Hydrotech 6125 waterproofing for decks and chimney caps.
