Tank Engine Takeover at the Didcot Railway Centre 14/2/2024

14th February 2024, Didcot Railway Centre hosted its Prairie event, inviting West Somerset Railway’s Prairie 5199, Which was visiting as its last hurrah before overhaul, with their own running prairie 4144, coming back for its 2023 Travels, it created an interesting line-up of locomotives and action. In the morning, the prairies ran on the two different lines, 4144 on the ‘Branch Line’ and 5199 on the ‘Main Demonstration Line’ Each doing shuttles with some passenger rolling stock. At lunchtime, both the engines came off the their coaches and lined-up with some static locomotives, Including: 4144 5199 6106 The three Large Prairies. 5572 ‘Small Prairie’ 6697 ‘66XX’ Class Whilst the Large prairies rested and had a drink, the 14 took the role of shuttling the Branch line. ( Mega Thrash ) After a short while the Large Prairies came together to double head which was definitely a spectacle to behold.
