Description: This walk takes you through one of the most atmospheric parts of Sopot – Górny Sopot (Upper Sopot). It’s a calm late-afternoon walk during the pre-spring season, just before dusk in early March, when the city slowly quiets down and the streets and forest paths take on a peaceful mood. This hour-long 4K walking tour explores an elegant district located on the edge of the forest. Along the way you will see quiet streets, historic villas, and green areas connected with the surrounding woodland. The walk takes place on March 8 – International Women’s Day, widely celebrated in Poland – which adds a small symbolic touch to this early spring afternoon. Recording information: Date: 08.03.2026 (Sunday) Time: approx. 17:00 Temperature: approx. 10°C / 50°F (feels like approx. 12°C / 54°F) Weather conditions: early spring warming, almost no wind Equipment: DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro We begin this atmospheric walk near Aleja Niepodległości (Independence Avenue), one of the main streets of Sopot. Soon we turn into quieter streets leading deeper into Górny Sopot (Upper Sopot) – a district known for its elegant villas, pre-war townhouses, and peaceful surroundings close to the forest. Along the way we reach Stadion Leśny (Forest Stadium), a historic sports venue surrounded by trees. From there we continue through the neighborhood toward ulica Armii Krajowej (Army Street), passing the Faculty of Economics of Uniwersytet Gdański (University of Gdańsk) and the local fire station - an interesting building with a distinctive tower. The next part of the walk leads into the forest area. We follow quiet woodland paths to the lake - Jezioro Nowowiejskie (Nowowiejskie Lake), also known locally as Morskie Oko (Sea Eye). This small, peaceful lake hidden among the trees is a favorite walking spot for residents. From the forest we head toward a viewpoint near Wzniesienie Strzeleckie (Strzeleckie Hill) before approaching the famous Opera Leśna (Forest Opera) – one of the most recognizable open-air amphitheaters in Poland, known for concerts and music festivals. Finally, we return toward Aleja Niepodległości (Independence Avenue), completing a calm loop through both city streets and forest paths. Górny Sopot (Upper Sopot) is considered one of the most prestigious parts of Sopot, located on the slopes of moraine hills and surrounded by forests belonging to the Tricity Landscape Park. The area combines elegant historic architecture with easy access to nature, making it a perfect place for relaxing walks – especially during late winter and the pre-spring season, when the first signs of spring slowly begin to appear.
