Exploring Pig Beach Thunderball Grotto, Staniel Cay and Black Point Settlement. Leaving the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park on Warderick Wells is the most beautiful boating we have ever experienced. The color of the water has to be seen to be believed. Fortunately, we're not going very far. Just a little further south to Big Major and Staniel Cay. Both of these Islands have well known tourist attractions that are on our list to see, one from a distance and one very close up. We don't understand the fascination of the pigs at Pig Beach, or more exactly swimming with them. Although so many people come and pay a lot of money to swim with the pigs here in Pig Beach, we decided to watch from the relative safety of our dinghy, a few meters away. This island, Big Major Cay is a magnet for boaters for reasons other than Pig Beach. It has a couple different anchorages that are popular and that give protection from wind and seas from several directions. It's also a great place to moor the boat if you want to see Thunderball Grotto. This cave was named after the James Bond movie that was partially filmed inside of Thunderbolt Grotto. We drove our dinghy to snorkeled there at low tide. Low tide makes entry into the cave easier but also draws the biggest crowns. If we were to do it again in Thunderball Grotto, we would go an hour before low tide. At this point it would still be a breeze to enter but the other divers may not have arrived yet. Overall Thunderball Grotto was amazing. Back to the yelling. Our favorite day anchored by Big Major and Staniel Cay was the day we walked Staniel Cay looking for a grocery store. We found three of them, but they were all closed (no surprise, it was Sunday). Is this why they were yelling? Staniel Cay is a beautiful island with a vibrant area surrounding the Yacht Club, a small airport with direct flights from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. We'll show you the entire island. But far and away our favorite stop we made was at Black Point Settlement in the middle Exuma Cays Bahamas. When we got there the locals were in the midst of a three-day celebration of their recent victory of the Bahamian regatta sailing race. They invited us to join them for a weekend of free food, free drinks, and great company. What an amazing hospitality in Black Point Settlement. We will never forget our time on Black Point.
