New Mexico, the land of enchantment. It was the land of enchanting ghost towns for me. I didn't know what I was going to come across in New Mexico. I had found one huge abandoned place in Albuquerque but Hollywood had recently taken it over so it was off-limits. Fucking Hollywood ruining our UrbEx experience. Can I get an amen?! Anyway, I did discover that just east of Albuquerque there were a bunch of ghost towns. These towns were built along the legendary Route 66. When they opened Interstate 40 right next to it all the little towns that survived on route 66 traffic dried up, but the buildings remained, the dry desert air preserving them better than most abandoned places I have visited. It was really more than I could have hoped for, and I really enjoyed checking out each and every one. But don't take my word for it, check it out for your self.
