Repacking and Resleeving Aftermarket Fuel Exhausts for Motorcycles

Part of our Fuel Friday series, Damian shows how we repack and resleeve our exhaust silencers. We also give this motorcycle exhaust a bit of a refurb by media blasting the end caps and link pipe. Quick links... 00:48 How to check if your aftermarket exhaust needs repacking 02:27 To take the exhaust silencer apart, drill out the rivets on the inlet end 03:07 Remove outlet end cap 03:37 Remove the old used exhaust packing / wadding material 04:38 Drill the inlet end of the exhaust 05:19 Remove exhaust body / sleeve 06:40 Media blasting the existing inlet and outlet 07:41 The differences between powder coating and ceramic coating 08:08 Mark the end caps to indicate where the existing holes are located 09:06 Add a silicone based sealent to the inside of the inlet end of the exhaust tube / sleeve 09:20 Line up and fit the internal end cap and perforated tube section inside the sleeve 10:22 Using stainless steel wirewool 11:44 Using exhaust packing material - wadding 11:58 Insert the wirewool and exhaust wadding into the exhaust sleeve 12:19 Refit the outlet end cap and line up appropriately 14:44 Refitting the rivet band - drill and rivet in the first hole 16:50 Drill all other holes and rivet in place 18:56 Tap down the edges of the rivet bands 19:11 Fit the heat resistant Fuel Exhausts foil label / badge 19:54 Final clean We carry out repacking of our own silencers in house and turn such jobs around within 2 working days.
