A Practical Philosophy for All Fields of Research Usually, the social sciences appeal to different philosophies from the natural sciences, and both different from psychology or theology or mathematics. Since philosophy lies at the root of fields of research, those in one field seldom talk with those in other fields, except at cross-purposes. The presenter of this 17-minute talk, Professor Andrew Basden, has discovered that Dooyeweerd's philosophy is able to speak meaningfully into almost all fields. The talk, presented at ECRM2020 (the 2020 European Conference on Research Methods), briefly outlines Dooyeweerd's fifteen aspects of reality, which are distinct ways in which things can be meaningful. Most fields focus on a core aspect, together with a couple of secondary aspects. This talk looks briefly at aspects as the core of fields, different aspects for all those above, and then shows how the various thinkers or discourses in a field might be encouraged to come together. Talk presented by Professor Andrew Basden, University of Salford, UK. Constructed on the Amiga computer using Scala and PPaint.
