Summit Of Corkscrew Peak (5804 ft), Grapevine Mountains, Death Valley National Park, California

Awesome, yeah..awesome! Wanting to stretch our legs after the previous days long moto ride we decided to give a shot at summiting Corkscrew Peak. At just over seven miles roundtrip with 3000ft of elevation gain, Corkscrew Peak gave us plenty of exercise. The first half of the hike was gradual up a wash. After the climb out the wash, the real grind began. Steeper and steeper, the last quarter mile before summit is very steep and somewhat loose. Having some sticks at this point would have helped..going up and coming down..but we managed without them. This trip took us about five and a half hours truck to truck and we were rewarded with excellent views of Death Valley! Can't wait to return and get some more!!
