Smt Radha Viswanathan, vocal accompanist and daughter of Smt M.S.Subbulakshmi, began performing solo concerts on the All India Radio, and at private venues in the 1970's, up until 1982 when illness arrested her life. Though she recovered and resumed performing with Smt M.S. from 1983 onwards, the illness robbed her of physical strength and vitality, because of which she could not pursue her career as a solo artiste. This is one of the few rare recordings of Smt Radha performing alone, sourced from the archives of the All India Radio. The concert was performed around 1980. It was first broadcast around that time from Trichy All India Radio station. In 2006, AIR Chennai re-broadcast the concert from their archives. Our sincere thanks to Sri T.V.Gopalakrishnan (of Sangeethapriya.org) for recording the re-broadcast of this concert.
