Kuaotunu rock hounding for gemstones and crystals

Back in the day Kuaotunu use to be a little gold town, lots of minerals run through the ground to form gold and other gems. Staying in Kuaotunu the plan was to head to a little gold mine I was told about in a hill nearby, we packed a few snacks ans some water and we were on our way. Having to cross a bit of private property to get to it we went bush so as not to upset anybody, a bit of bush wack'n just adds to our adventures anyways. We followed a little stream in which showed me a few little quartz specimens, the plan was to hit the little mine then come back to the stream for a poke around. The boys enjoyed this adventure as it had it all, a bit of bush wack'n, inspecting a little mine, finding quartz crystals then finding some nice pieces of quartz in the creek.
