Working its final railtour of 2025, 34028 ‘Eddystone’ would work Railway Touring Company’s “The Bath & Bristol Christmas Express” from Three Bridges to Bath & Bristol via the South Coast and Salisbury and return to Salisbury before giving way to diesel haulage, on Saturday 13th December 2025 Setting out in the early hours of the morning 34028 is seen rushing through the centre road at Redhill on the ECS move from Southall to Three Bridges to collect passengers, having picked up at Haywards Heath and now in the early morning daylight the Pacific powers towards Hassocks with the exhaust hanging in the sky from the cold temperatures Next up comes Barnham at Nusery foot crossing as the loco accelerates uphill towards the station, following another stop at Fareham the train now enters the single line section to Botley seen at Fareham Tunnel shooting straight into the sun but once again the exhaust hanging high The weather would then take an unexpected turn at Lockerley, nr Mottisfont as the fog would come down on the line but cleared up just in time for ‘Eddystone’ to emerge from the mist heading towards Salisbury Now along the Wylye Valley 34028 is next seen shutting off power at Upton Lovell having just completed the climb, finally for the outward leg comes Freshford as the train nears its journeys end in some beautful winters light As ‘Eddystone’ would only work the train on the return from Bristol to Salisbury only 1 shot would be achieved and this would be at Dilton Marsh on the 1in75 climb to Upton Scudamore as the Bulleid lets rip up the hill with sparks flying out the chimney!
