Our time in big city Bangkok is up, and it's off to the tropical paradise beaches of Koh Phangan! Had Rin beach has to be one of the nicest spots to swim EVER. From extremely warm water temperatures to the constant rolling waves, you would think you were in a hot tub wave pool surrounded by the loveliest sands. (And beach restaurants!) Today it was packing up our bags, leaving our lovely little AirBnB condo on the 26th floor of a condo in Bangkok and off to the international airport. Bangkok had some great pastimes, but we were ready for some sun and beaches! Time to tan some of our glowing Canadian white skin making us look like we had just landed still, haha. After a few hours of flying from BKK international airport into Surat Thani, we grabbed a coffee and awaited our transfer bus to the ferry. We booked through 12GoAsia and they actually arrange a transportation plan that set us up with a plane, to a bus, to a ferry to our destination so that made things real easy. The bus ride was a smooth ride, and Alysha even got to catch up on a little sleep from our early start to the day. Once we got to SeaTran Discovery's Ferry terminal we got some lunch from a nice little cafeteria they have there as well as some snacks and water from a little convenience store attached as well. The SeaTran Discovery Ferry terminal had very friendly staff and good food so passing the time was easy. After a little bit it was time to board the ferry and we were off. It was so refreshing cruising along the open ocean taking in the breeze on top of the ferry yet still under a nice shaded canopy. Quite the change from the hustle and bustle and smells of Bangkok for sure. The ferry runs from the SeaTran Ferry terminal on mainland to Koh Samui then Koh Phangan and then Koh Tao so plenty of people got off and on at Koh Samui as well. The sailing was a breeze (haha, get it), and next thing you know it was time to depart from our water taxi and enter the tropical paradise of Koh Phangan. We got off the ferry and ended up getting hurried off onto two motorcycle taxis, luggage and all! I must say it was quite the adventure riding on the back of a scooter, straddling another man who also had our 50lb luggage bag in between him and the handle bars, but he made it work! (Mostly ;) ) Coming down the hill into Koh Phangan just past Mong Lay restaurant on the top of the hill was amazing, the tropical island view while descending steeply past monkeys and all the lush surroundings felt like entering a movie scene. A word of advice to anyone travelling here, or a general tip in general however though, is don't take the first offer/taxi that approaches you in life haha. We ended up already agreeing on a price we thought was quite a bit above what it should cost, and then once we arrived the 2 scooter guys started arguing with us saying the price was per person since there was two of them. He tried saying he had bad English understanding and I was like ahh you know what you're saying, but ended up conceding and paying them both to avoid any drama or bad reputation before we had even settled into this small little community on the Island. We stayed in Haad Rin on Koh Phangan, which is known for it's crazy full moon parties. We however, planned it so that we arrived a day after the last big party so that everyone would be winding down. Avoiding the party times left us a stunning beach decently empty and our choice of open restaurants etc whenever we liked. It may be known for parties but plan it in between and this paradise can be yours to relax instead! (Unless the partying is your thing then you would not be disappointed either.) Soft, long beaches of white sand, constant rolling warm waves that were so much fun to play in all just down the hill from our little room at Aquavana resort. The beach had no shortage of restaurants and bars to choose from as well of course attached to it. On the other side of Haad Rin which is only a short walk across, there was another beach that had calmer waters and had the sunsets so we spent a bit of time on that side of Koh Phangan / Had Riin. Besides all the beauty of the beaches, and the quaint little village we also went for dinner one night to Cafe 2401 on the hillside and caught a 10/10 sunset. We originally intended to try Mong Lay but they were closed that day but our truck driver offered to take us somewhere similar instead. It worked out for the best because we had some delicious different curries at Cafe 2401 and as you can see the sunset was just out of this world. Thanks for stopping by always everyone, much appreciated and hope life is going good for you all too! Almost springtime woohoo right?! Let me know if you have any spring plans for yourself if you make it this far into the description mwahaha. And of course if you enjoyed the content, smash that like and subscribe button, thanks!
