Honestly, the only kind of vacation I enjoy is the kind where I get to bring my furry kids along. We had planned to stay at this cabin a few months earlier, expecting the Fruits to be adopted by mid-November (which they were!). Saving Billy Bob wasn’t part of the original plan, and I really didn’t want to leave him with a babysitter by himself, so we decided to take him with us. It was a tiny cabin without any dividers, and I had no idea how GB and BB would handle this rambunctious orange ball of fire for several days. We packed pens, toys, and scratch posts to prepare for everything. The trip turned out to be so much more peaceful, enriching, and therapeutic than I ever expected. Everyone got along beautifully—there was no stress or tension between any of them. It was as if the cabin had its own magic; everything I had hoped for seemed to unfold on its own—from GB and Billy playing to BB giving Billy a little chin hug. We visited the local farmers market and tried the best country bread pudding. My husband and I dream about having our own ranch one day—raising chickens, growing our own veggies, and letting my kids run free on our property. This trip felt like a small glimpse of that dream, and it was magical.
