An Armed Forces comedy course has wrapped up - with participants praising the new friendships forged and the therapeutic power of laughter. See what one of the participants had to say about their experience! Run by The Comedy School in Camden under the Thrive Together programme, the course gave veterans and other members of the Armed Forces community a chance to explore and develop their comedic talents across three terms. The final term, a residential weekend in Kent, focused on narrative comedy, including sketch, sitcom and movie writing. Across three days, participants learned how to craft comedic scenes, write dialogue, and analyse comedy techniques through a mix of writing and performance exercises, video analysis, and a Q&A with a professional comedy writer. The aim was to give the group a better understanding of how comedy content is created for screen and stage. The residential followed two earlier terms focused on improv and stand-up. At the end of each term, participants performed live shows to audiences – showcasing their new skills and growing confidence.
