Antagon in Hungary 2024

How do we work with groups of children? How can we generate exchange where we learn from each others culture and ways of bringing artistic expression? Over the past two weeks, we have traveled through rural Hungary to get in touch with Roma communities. We gave theater workshops for children and young people, exchanged ideas with them, played, laughed and celebrated. Alsóvadász, Borsodbóta, Homrogd were some of the villages where we were active. These are places that are severely affected by poverty and where there is a strong division between the Hungarian and Roma families. We have learned that the most diverse people can come together in play and joint creation and that art and culture are resources that can be found everywhere, even in conditions of poverty. We are grateful for the openness of the local communities, schools, and for sharing and exchanging. Have a little insight of this process!
