When you think of the average building, something pretty boring and standard probably pops in your head. After all, most buildings put function over design. And yet, there are still plenty of buildings around the world that were created by brilliant architects and designers who decided to push the boundaries of what a building should be. These are the structures that make you want to step inside, take photos from outside, and basically stand with your mouth agape at how wild and cool they are. In this video, we’re taking a look at some of the weirdest buildings in the world. We talk about the Basket Building in Ohio, that was designed to look like a literal picnic basket, because the company working there made best-selling baskets. We talk about an office building in Mumbai India that was not only designed as a paragon of sustainability, but did so while making it look like a giant egg. We talk about the Bed and Breakfast in Idaho that looks like a giant dog, and you can literally curl up and read a book inside it’s snout. We also talk about the fact that some of these weird buildings were actually the inspiration for entire movements of architecture. Like the Big Duck building on Long Island, NY. It not only became a fun roadside attraction, but it was the inspiration for a type of architecture called “duck architecture”, where a building’s design is a literal reference to the type of work being done inside it.
