daiki kasho - Edge of the World A remix of the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue version and the GT6 one, the latter is the remastered version of the GT5 one consistently featured on future Gran Turismo games like GT7. This remix is my first time editing two songs, fortunately both songs are almost the same which made it easy for learning. If you want to hear the GT5 Prologue version, check out this link, uploaded by Sotiris Greece: • Daiki Kasho - Edge Of The World All credit goes to Polyphony Digital, daiki kasho as the composer, and Jonathan Underwood as the vocalist. In fact, go check out their other songs! daiki kasho songs are severely underrated and deserve more love. As for this song, Edge of the World first came out alongside GT5 Prologue in 2007 which was the peak alternative rock era for me with emo and nihilistic vibe. Speaking of vibe, it has similar vibe to one of my favorite local songs from Peterpan, titled "Di Belakangku" (Behind Me). If you listen to the GT5 Prologue version and compare it with the GT6 version and beyond, you can hear several differences. Not only does the drum sound different, but the GT6 remaster version also omits several parts of the lyrics. Perhaps the most jarring one is the last part in the GT5 Prologue version which got completely erased and replaced with a different tune in the remastered version. I don't have any idea why they arranged it that way and no one provides any reasonings, so my educated guess is that they omit the most nihilistic part of the lyrics from the original version and change it with a more hopeful tune near the end in order to fit in better among the other soundtracks in Gran Turismo, a racing video game. While I love the way the GT5 Prologue version ends, it also feels a bit hollow. The GT6 remastered version ends in a better tone, but in turn it feels very incomplete, especially after listening to the GT5 Prologue one. The purposes of this remix are to help me improve my sound editing skill, even though I can only have Audacity for now, and to help me fill in the gap in the final part of the GT5 Prologue version. While I love both versions of Edge of the World, there are parts that I prefer differently on each version. The remastered version has better overall drum and rhythm, but the original version has better intro and ending lyrics.
