Heading for Hardangervidda national park in Norway, Europe's largest mountain plateau, me and Bernt where in for a big challenge. Starting from Valldalsvatnet we planned to hike up the mountains bringing a canoe and heading for Kvennsjöen lake, a 20 km up-hill hike. From there we planned to paddle downstreams in the Kvenna river. Doing this we hoped to get ourselves deep into the mountains in short time and see as much of this beautiful area as we possible could in four days. At some point however, we knew we had to find a way back to close the circuit. When studying the map in advance there seemed to be some do-able options to close the circuit. But again, studying a map from home is an entirely different thing from actually getting yourself through the route you planned... and once again nature and the climate didn't offer quite what we expected. Total distance: Approx. 80 km Duration: 4 days Back-pack weight: 18-20 kg each Canoe: 17 kg Elevation gain/lose: +/- 1500 m Starting point: Valldalsvatnet Filmed: 13-16 July #hiking #canoeing #norway
