Melissa Boneta Davis, Phd, Weill Medical College, New York City, NY, discusses an exploration of breast cancer in African woman, focusing on cancer disparities from a biological perspective, health disparities in regard to cancer outcomes and the social constructs that limit patients access to healthcare for curative therapy. Finding on an investigation into the trends of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) across the globe showed a TNBC diagnosis is twice as likely in Black woman. Patients with breast cancer were recruited from East and West Africa and the USA to assess their genetic ancestry, showing a unique immune response in the tumors of woman across the African diaspora. This interview took place at the Molecular Analysis for Precision oncology (MAP) Congress 2022 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
