This is a SoftStartRV installation on a Truma Aventa air conditioner on a 2023 Leisure Travel Vans Unity motorhome. There are several reasons why it's a good idea to add a SoftStartRV to your Leisure Travel Vans Truma Aventa air conditioner; 1) Reduces the compressor start and operating noise level, 2) Reduces the very large amperage spike required to start the compressor, 3) Makes it easier for Shore or Generator power to run the air conditioner, reducing wear and tear on your vital electrical systems and the air conditioner, 4) Let's you run the Truma air conditioner off as low as a 15a shore power outlet (you must turn your inverter battery charger current to the lowest setting of 5a). For those wanting to run their Truma or any brand air conditioner from a 3000w inverter and Lithium batteries, a soft start is an absolute necessity to help the inverter and lithium batteries meet the startup in-rush current demands of the Truma compressor. Adding a SoftStartRV to your Truma air conditioner gives you greater flexibility to use smaller power supplies to run your air conditioner. A soft start on any air conditioner will absolutely reduce your air conditioner compressor operation sound level and help shore and generator power run the air conditioner more effectively. The Truma Aventa air conditioner has the highest compressor current surge at the startup of all the RV air conditioners. It has an LRA (Locked Rotor Amp) rating of 58a, meaning it requires a 58a draw spike to start the compressor from 120vAC shore or generator power. This equates to about 7000w or 535a (13vdc) of surge or in-rush current from an Inverter/Lithium battery system. In comparison, the Dometic Penguin ll has an LRA or 52a, and an Atmos 4.4 LRA is 48a. This is not a serious problem for most large inverters and lithium batteries, but when done many times per day for months or years, it increases the statistical risk of electronic component damage, especially when lithium battery BMS's use MOSFETs for 12vDC switching and inverters are high frequency type with low inductive capacity to handle surges. So all RV air conditioners will benefit from a SoftStartRV. A soft start device cuts the LRA in half, making it possible to run the Truma off of as small as a 15a breaker (you must turn your inverter battery charger current to the lowest setting of 5a), and if you want some inverter battery charging as low a 20a shore power outlet. Adding a soft start to any RV air conditioner gives you greater flexibility to use smaller power supplies to run your air conditioner. Don't let a Lithium battery/Inverter installers tell you that you don't need a SoftStartRV, it only shows they don't understand how an air conditioner functions or they don't know how to install one, they are setting you up for failure down the road. While some Lithium battery/inverter setups may appear to run the air conditioner fine without a soft start, the wear and tear of having to support a huge surge of amperage everytime the air conditioner compressor cycles off and on is shortening the life of your electrical systems and the air conditioner. Long-term, it is very hard on your sensitive Lithium battery BMS and inverter circuitry to deal with the harsh demands of the air conditioner compressor startup. Even shore and generator power will have times of trouble dealing with the air conditioner demands. During the high summer temperatures, you will encounter low voltage shore power at most campgrounds when power demand is high because everyone is running their air conditioners to the maximum. So, having a SoftStartRV on your air conditioner reduces the amount of power needed to start the compressor, meaning it's easier for the shore power to run the air conditioner. I don't make one penny from SoftStartRV, I'm only interested in helping folks get a SoftStartRV installed on their air conditioner. Tools: You can use an all in one wire Cutter, Stripper, Crimper tool like these, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07... or https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OQ21CA. Here is the Crimper I used in the video, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F3JKDD3 and use the wire Cutter and Stripper that comes with the SoftStartRV. You also need electrical tape, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001AXD0EY.
