ESC 1964 Spain, no. 16: Los TNT performing the song “Caracola” (“Seashell”) during the Eurovision Song Contest 1964, hosted by Lotte Wæver in the Tivolis Koncertsal in Copenhaguen, Denmark, on March 21st, 1964. 💡 SUBTITLED AND TRANSLATED! This song placed 12th with 1 point from Italy, the winning country. Los TNT were the first group ever to participate in ESC. Nonetheless, since groups were not allowed then, they were introduced as Nelly Croatto accompained by Tim and Tony. This year also saw the first non-European performers: Indonesian singer Anneke Grönloh was the first as she performed earlier in the running order — Los TNT, an Italian-Uruguayan group, were the second. A stage invasion occurred before the previous entry (Belgium) in which a man came into the stage with a sign reading "Boycott Franco & Salazar" in protest to the Spanish and Portuguese dictatorships.
