Born on st Patrick's day 1930 To a lassie and a gold digger Baird Well he left her early and she married the drink And patty was left to prepare Before she hit teens she was taken away To the nuns of perpetual care They sheltered and fed, bet they sheltered her head And young patty was left to prepare At 18 with freedom she went on a journey to visit her mother's affairs As she stepped from the train a priest called her name You mother's been murdered in vain When patty met Don he was all that she wanted So handsome with bushy black hair As his hair had greyed, for his cancer she prayed And Patty was left to prepare. with her 2 boys beside her she started again The garden her real love affair Then once more it hit her and wheelchair bound is no glitter and Patty was left to prepare With pain as her master And a bloody lords prayer After 7 long years of despair It finally did take her And as she met her maker We though she had never prepared Her only wish for her funeral Was to have millions of flowers, more flowers than anyone cared And as we all said goodbye With the flowers we cried ........ What a wonderful way to prepare Won't you please come home Patty Your garden awaits With roses in bloom all so fair We'll have tea by the tulips and maiden hair fern But don't hurry patty If you've found some love over there. ©Peter Northcote 2013
