This tutorial is part of the Modeling for Surgery Course held by OpenDot for the second edition of the Health&Care Summer School: an online session to teach how design processes and digital fabrication technologies can innovate the healthcare field by producing effective solutions for real needs. In this tutorial Alberto Ornaghi, Digital Fabrication Designer at OpenDot, is giving an introduction to 3D Slicer, a visualization and medical image computing software. 3D Slicer is a free open source software which provides image registration, processing of DTI (diffusion tractography), an interface to external devices for image guidance support, and GPU-enabled volume rendering, among other capabilities. The interactive visualization capabilities of 3D Slicer include the ability to display arbitrarily oriented image slices, build surface models from image labels, and hardware-accelerated volume rendering. It also supports a rich set of annotation features (fiducials and measurement widgets, customized color maps) If you want to know more, watch the video!
