A Nightmare Of The SHARP GF-777 An Endless Cassette Deck Fix

Countless hours of work bringing the SHARP GF-777 back to life was a very painful memory for me. [WARNING] This video is very long. If you watch through the entire footage, you may feel the pain and frustration that I felt in the course of the restoration. The owner of the boombox is, of course, Pedro the boombox collector. He brought me this monster in the summer of 2018. One of the speakers was damaged, the cassette deck door hinge was broken, dusty controller and scratch noise, etc... He wanted to paint it with his favorite color, replace the speakers, and add Bluetooth and LEDs. In the course of the restoration, I noticed that the double cassette deck's condition was very bad. The play speed was unstable and the sound was not clear at all. The FF and REW did not work well due to the worn out tires. This double cassette deck was mounted from the front side of the inner shell, which meant that every time I needed to test the condition, I had to remove the inner shell from the front case and mount the cassette deck from the front side of the inner shell. This shell was a T-shape which was not easy to handle at all. As you can see in the video, it was an endless fight with this cassette deck. Whatever I did, it never sounded very good. After hundreds of hours spent working, I finally gave up. In the sound test video, you may notice that the sound of the tape is very low quality, but it was the best I could do. This GF-777 has a total of 6 speakers, and 4 woofers 6.5 inches each. The outer side of the woofers is full-range, while the inner woofers are bass to mid-bass tuned. The 4 newly replaced speakers were all identical speakers, which made the sound flatter than the original speakers. The 2 original bass woofers have a deeper sound. Anyway, the restoration of the GF-777 was one of the most frustrating nightmares I've ever had.
