There he will uncover a deep, lurking evil and will realize the destiny he must fulfill. This is The Final Chapter of the Ancient Ys Vanished saga. As much as I disliked the bump system and overall feel of the first Ys game at first, this game really made me appreciate what the first did. The amount of expansion in this sequel is pretty refreshing: usable magic which upgrades over the game, more natural environments besides drab shrines, mines, and Darm Tower, and more intense bosses plus one of my favorite final bosses in the series. Not to mention the leveling and equipment systems had been revamped, and the story and overall progression of the story is much more coherent and accessible compared to the first game. When I think of improvement through a direct sequel, this game will no doubt always pop up as a perfect example of doing literally everything better.
