Simulation Training Is Transforming Medical Education

USC School of Medicine Greenville students are accelerating their clinical skills by training at the world-class Greenville Healthcare Simulation Center. Located in the Health Sciences Education Building on the campus of Greenville Memorial Hospital, the state-of-the-art Simulation Center occupies 11,500 square feet and is equipped with the latest in human simulation technology. Medical students hone their clinical skills through sessions with the software-driven mannequins and their interpersonal skills through the Simulation Center's standardized patient program. Sessions are taped so students and instructors can critique performance. In this video, Dean Jerry Youkey explains how this unique hands-on approach to learning greatly improves knowledge retention, elevates clinical skills, and ultimately results in physicians better prepared to deliver high quality, safe patient care.
