This release will benefit the ongoing agricultural activities in the delta district. This 1,875 years old dam was built by an ancient Chola king Karikalan around 150 CE, Kallanai stands as one of the world’s oldest water-regulation structures still in use. Situated on the Kaveri River, the dam plays a crucial role in irrigation across Tiruchirapalli and Thanjavur districts.
