The pre lawsuit Vintage VSA 590 Version 1 which is a superb guitar and when available costs peanuts compared with a Gibson ES styled guitar. Along with version 2 (which had an extra fretmarker inlay and the alternative flower design on the headstock) and the Reissue are all now discontinued by John Hornby Skewes. The Reissue had the horrible offset horns and extended lower bout which all remaining Vintage ES styled semi acoustics now have. This has been the case since Gibson won the lawsuit against JHS in 2017. As the US is an expanding market and the biggest in the world JHS have decided to rehash their Gibson copy guitar designs to avoid further legal action, however, what they have come up with is a travesty of those designs. Customers ultimately lose out because their is now less choice, the VSA 590 for example was a better guitar than the Epiphone Casino Standard and when on sale was available for less money.
