Abraham and Lot Separated Lot was a man greatly blessed by God through his relationship with Abraham. He prospered, gained wealth, and was given freedom to choose where he would settle. In Genesis 13, when conflict arose between their herdsmen, Abraham graciously allowed Lot to choose first. Lot lifted up his eyes and chose the fertile plains of the Jordan—land that looked green, prosperous, and promising. Yet the Bible quietly adds a warning: the people of Sodom were exceedingly wicked. Lot’s decision was guided by sight, not faith. He did not ask what honored God, only what benefited him. Though Lot gained land, he slowly moved closer to moral danger. His story reminds us that good-looking choices can still lead to painful consequences. True wisdom is not choosing what looks best, but choosing what keeps us close to God. 📖 Bible Readings: Genesis 13:1–13 Genesis 13:14–18 Psalm 1:1–3 Proverbs 14:12 2 Corinthians 5:7 👨🏻💻 Teachings: 1. What looks good in the eyes is not always good. 2. Peace is more valuable than wealth. 3. Raising a family in a godly culture should be a top priority. 💪🏼 Applications: 1. Weigh your decisions using biblical principles. 2. Prioritize peace over wealth. 3. Raise your family within a godly culture. 🎙 Discussion: How can we practically raise our family within godly culture? Why should you seek biblical principles first before making decisions? 🤿 Dive Deeper: Why does moving east mean moving farther away from God, and moving west mean moving nearer to God? 🙏🏼 Prayer: Father God, I confess that many times I am tempted to choose what looks good instead of what is right. Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight. Guard my heart from small compromises that slowly pull me away from You. Help me trust that Your will is always better than what the world offers. I want my life to be shaped not by what I see, but by what You have promised. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
