Ryan John MacLean James Apt Rick Pelletier "In Atlanta Whiskey Flat" is an extremely rare Six Finger Satellite (6FS) vinyl bootleg LP that is believed to have originated in Herkimer, New York. While photos of the cover exist, of which there are two variations (blue and white), the actual number of copies pressed is unknown. Said to be around 100, and possibly as few as 33, none of the members of 6FS present on this recording actually own a copy. Rumors have circulated that most of the copies pressed were lost in a rotgut drinking contest at either Stoney's Tavern in Herkimer or Tony's Lounge in Frankfort. Harry, one of the bootleggers, was out-drank (and even out-witted) by a long-haul trucker named William "Billy" Campbell, who, upon winning a good chunk of the 6FS bootlegs (if not all), declared he would donate individual copies to thrift stores all across the country during his runs. Whether or not Billy shared his bounty one record at a time with the Goodwills and St. Vincent de Pauls of America is unknown. Billy's name fades a bit more from this story every time it is retold, and last anyone heard, Billy was living in Lunenburg, VT, "doing fuck all". Much like "Live '95" (which is a recording of a different show), this set was likely taped during the fall of 1995 (between September 21 and October 14) when 6FS were supporting Mike Watt on his "Shinebox" tour. Of the twenty-three shows that encapsulated the tour, only a handful of confirmed recordings of Six Finger Satellite's sets have emerged, these being Boston, Champaign, and Grand Rapids. - Mr. Charlie Recorded by (unknown) Tape provided by The Man Behind The Glasses Transferred by The Happy One Electronically reprocessed for stereo by Mr. Charlie #sixfingersatellite #providence #6fingersatellite #6FS #atlantawhiskeyflat #whiskeyflat #herkimer #stoneystavern #tonyslounge Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
