Captain Liam Moran returned to the starting line-up, replacing Jamie Robinson, who, as you may remember, was injured last time out against Northwich Victoria. The Bloods also handed a debut to winger Kieran Alley, a recent signing from Atherton LR. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Home side looked a little out of sorts early on, as the visitors created a number of chances, without finding the finish, with a number of them falling to the League's current top scorer Spencer Lucas. The home side soon found their feet, and a couple of decent runs off the ball by Alley, put the visitor's defence to work. It was a half a very few chances in all honesty, with the best chance coming the way of Fulwood in the 26th minute. A Joey Higham cross-come-shot from their right hand side was met at the back post by a stretching Glenn Steele, who could only direct the ball onto the post, and eventually out to safety. The rest of the first half followed a similar pattern, with neither side creating any clear cut chances, with the home side's best effort falling to Nellson Van, who's shot from the edge of the box was deflected out for a corner which came to nothing. The second half was more of the same, but with the home side with the Lion's share of the possession, but again, without really creating much in the way of goal-scoring opportunities, with Fulwood restricted to the odd chance on the counter. Tempers flared a little in the 57th minute, when following a Fulwood free kick, Manu Omorogbe caught a boot in the chest from Fulwood striker Lucas, earning himself a Yellow card in the process. The 65th minute saw a welcome return to action for Harry Shipton, following a spell on the sidelines with a broken jaw, and he was soon in action, skilfully pulling off a drag back, and a nutmeg, to take 2 Fulwood players out of the game. A rare break from the visitors saw Lucas through on goal, but Latham reacted quickly to race out of his goal, and brilliantly block the attack, and just minutes later, the Bloods took the lead. A cross field run by substitute Mauro Mendes ended with a neat little reverse pass into Kyle Campbell, who's perfectly weighted through ball found Luis Cantello, who slotted the ball to the Goalkeeper's left, to score his first goal for the club, and give the home side a well deserved lead. There was still time for another Fulwood break through the impressive Spencer Lucas, with Jordan Latham coming out on top yet again, this time a solid Right hand deflecting the ball away for a corner, which came to nothing. That was the last significant action of the game, as the Bloods run out 1-0 winners, exacting a bit of revenge for their loss in the reverse fixture. As the fixture Gods have put it, both teams are back at the Butchers next time out, this time swapping the League for the FA Vase 3rd round, with fingers crossed, another win for Droylsden.
